Don Eanes is a working professional musician.
He is an extremely gifted pianist, vocalist, organist, keyboardist, synthesist, and programmer.
With a vast array of experience in touring, recording, and live performance,
he is comfortable and knowledgeable in
any musical style or situation.
As co-founding Pianist/ Organist of Janie Grey, Don contributed his keyboard, vocal, and songwriting skills to two critically acclaimed recordings, 1996 MEMORIES ENEMIES & FRIENDS and 2001 MAYBE TOMORROW. Through constant touring of 200+ dates a year, Janie Grey scored two independent record deals, rave reviews (including a featured article in RELIX MAGAZINE) and created a large fan base in North America and abroad. They performed and toured throughout the 90's with the likes of Ryan Adams & Whiskeytown, The Smithereens, Dale Watson, Merle Saunders, Hazeldine, The Urban Shakedancers, Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jupiter Coyote, Jack Pearson, Allgood, Agents Of Good Roots, and many more. Taking a hiatus in 2003, the band still performs select shows each year.
Don met Elvis Impersonator Scot Bruce in 2002 and the rest is history. Together they have performed at large venues all over the world. Highlights include a 2009 tour of Asia that included stops in Hong Kong and a declorated performance for royalty in Malaysia. With Scot, Don has also performed at The Historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN., made monthly appearances at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA., several appearances at The O.C. Pavilion in Santa Ana, CA., invited to perform a private show at the Malibu estate of Michael Landon, and has even shared the corporate-gig stage with Charlie Daniels. Don is also is lending his vocals, songwriting, playing, programming, and extreme editing skills to Scot"s debut record.
John Mueller is the best Buddy Holly Impersonator in the Country. With John, Don occasionally sits in with John's "Winter Dance Party" tour and the "Buddy, Roy, & Elvis" tour at large venues all over North America. August of 2010 will mark Don's first International BRE Tour with several dates in The Republic of Singapore. Other highlights include The Annual Clovis Music Festival in Clovis, NM., where he performed with Buddy Holly guitarist Tommy Allsup, as well as Buddy Holly back-up vocalists David Bigham, Gary Tollett, and Ramona Tollett. Also, Don joined John at one unforgettable stop at Camino Real Ballroom in beautiful Tijuana, Mexico.
Appalachian Reggae Artist Ras Alan gives Don the only gig where his Hammond, Leslie, Clavinet, Wurlitzer 200A & Musicman 410 are required. With Ras, Don has traveled the East Coast spreading reggabilly rhythm, good vibes, good jams, and great love to every venue imaginable. Highlights include multiple main stage appearances at The Annual Rythmn and Roots Festival held in Bristol, TN./ VA. , and recording at Tree Sound in Atlanta, GA.
Don contributed keyboards to Rob's first recording, 2002 I THINK WE'RE GONNA BE ALRIGHT, and was a honorary "Loser" from then on. He has darkend the doorway of many regional dives and concert halls with the Sore Losers, including an invitation to perform at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN., and a 2007 New Year's Eve Blowout at The Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, TN. with Scott Miller and The Secret Commonwealth.
Don gives former bandmate H.B. Beverly much credit for his musical upbringing. As a duo, they have entertained countless folks with H.B.'s laid-back-though-sometimes-rowdy-singer-songwriter revue. Don contributed keyboards, vocals, and accordian to H.B.'s masterpiece, 2002 HOME SWEET HOME. Still working together whenever possible, Don always enjoys the call to make music again with his musical partner-in-crime, and dear friend, of many, many, years.
As an 18 year old kid, Don got his first, real, taste of the road, wth Jim Devinney & Ironbridge. Don toured as his keyboardist, vocalist, and programmer for nearly 225 dates a year. They constantly entertained Line Dancers and Boot Scooters up and down the East Coast, performing with such artists as Brooks & Dunn, Trisha Yearwood, and other 90's hat acts along the way.
Don toured with the musical production IDOLS OF THE KING for five years. They performed 4 to 6 week runs at many theatres across the U.S. Highlights include:
Don has enjoyed serving at Highlands Fellowship since 2006. Along with being Keyboardist and Band Leader in the Highlands Praise Venue, Don also provides extensive technical services on a weekly basis. Recording and programming keyboard parts, loops, backing tracks, vocal overdubs, click tracks, and other musical/multimedia assistance for all four Highlands locations in Abingdon, VA., Bristol, TN., Johnson City, TN., and Marion, VA.
Don has been donating his time and talents to The Bridge. The Bridge is a relaxed worship opportunity, bringing together students from King College in Bristol, TN., and Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA.
Don served as the Keyboardist for LifeHouse, a Contemporary Worship Church in Johnson City, TN.
Don offered his services as Pianist to The Summit, partnered with North Point Church in Atlanta, GA..
Don was the Keyboardist for Unity Church, a Contemporary Worship and Praise Church in Johnson City, TN.
With Pastor Joe-d Dowling-Soka, Don enjoyed a wonderful three-year run as Pianist/ Worship Leader/ Musical Director for Jubillee! Community. Partnered with Otterbein Methodist Church, it helped spread the love of Christ to Art Galleries, Shelters, Coffee Houses, Women's Communities, College Campuses, and a plethora of other hosts all over the Tri-City area.
For three years, Don served as part time Pianist for OMC, and as Musical Director for Kid's Club, a summer camp offered to needy kids in the Johnson City area.
Don worked for China based toy manufacturer Fenwick Enterprises from 2003 to 2006. On multiple projects, he was contracted to compose music, record voice-overs, and supply 8-bit sound FX for various children's books and toys. The majority of the work was done from the comfort of Don's home studio, with the exception of those recorded on location at Classic Recording Studios in Bristol, VA.
Along with Kevin Adams on Saxophone, Ted Francisco on Electric Banjo, George Hammonds on Bass, and Eric Quesenberry on Drums, King Moonracer played some of the finest Jazz-Grass to ever come out of the Tri-City Region. The bands first performance was a co-headlining bill with Leftover Salmon at The 2004 Rhythm & Roots Festival in Bristol, VA.
In February of 2005, the band was busy working on it's first release when founder Ted Francisco was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Ted fought courageously until his untimly passing on September 2nd, 2005. Shortly afterwards, brother George Hammonds passed away on Oct. 9th of 2007. Don continues to miss them both.
Don's first paying gig was at The Walton House Inn of Radford, VA. He earned fifty-one dollars.
As a High School Freshman, along with other members of The Silver City Band, Don traveled the Roadhouse, VFW, & Mooselodge Circuit of greater Southwest VA. Highlights include performing with Bluegrass Legend Jimmy Martin, playing a show with an unknown Oklahoman named Garth Brooks, and witnessing his first bar fight.
Since 2002, Don has offered Project Studio, his home and portable recording studio, to numerous clients. With only word-of-mouth advertising, he has enlisted jobs that range from simple keyboard overdubs to 4-song demos, gear rental to full-length feature recordings, and last but not least, 8-bit compositions for China based toy manufacturer Fenwick Enterprises, his most unique client to date.
